Welcome to The Greater New Orleans Drum Corps Association Web site. The purpose of GNODCA is to preserve and build on the great tradition of the drum and bugle corps activity; to appropriately represent the greater New Orleans area as well as Louisiana, the United States and the drum and bugle corps activity worldwide; and to stimulate interest in the study and teaching of music and the arts.

John Weidman’s Drum Corps Biography:

John joined the St Francis Xavier Mariners Drum & Bugle Corps of S. Weymouth, MA in 1972. He moved to GNO Area in 1977, and joined the Bleu Raeder Drum & Bugle Corps for the fall 1978-79 Drum Corps season.

John has supported several Drum Corps (Expressions) and High Schools (Riverdale, as well as schools in Mississippi and Oklahoma) writing half-time and competition shows, instructing M & M shows and as a clinician.

John joined GNODCA in December of 2004 and marched the 2005 parade season. He has been active with our Echoes unit since then. In 2007, he assumed the Unit Director position for the Echoes. In 2008 he elected to the GNODCA Board and 2009 he was elected Board President. John has been serving in those Board positions till present. John has served as the Association’s Librarian since 2006 and has been our Purchasing Agent for equipment since 2007. He has also served on many GNODCA committees from Fundraising (Jazz Fest and Parades), Tuition Assistance, Social (Banquet, Annual Business Meeting and Reunion), and many others.

ECHOES of New Orleans at Independence Day Parade

Echoes will be performing in the Independence Day Parade in Houma, LA. The parade will be on Saturday, July 2. Line up time is 11:00. All Echoes members and any other drum corps alumni are invited.

30yr Drum Corp Reunion

The Greater New Orleans Drum Corps Association would like to announce a picnic honoring the 30th Anniversary of the Louisiana Southernaires first place finish in the Drum Corps International class "A" finals. Any one who was associated with Drum Corps in the New Orleans, Hammond, Baton Rouge ,Houma and Lafayette areas from the 1960's till today is invited to attend, socialize and reminisce . The picnic will be held at laketown Kenner by the treasure chest casino on Sunday August 21, 2011 from 10am till 6pm. Hope to see you there.

The park rules are as follows: No B.B.Q. pits with propane (only briquette), no beer in bottles only cans, no sea food boils, no generators, and no water slides.
